Q. Where is the Airport located?
A. The Airport Administration Office is located at 15800 Flight Path Drive. Seen from Spring Hill Drive, it is the building with the blue metal roof on the south side of the road, between the Suncoast Parkway and Broad St./Route 41. If you are picking someone up or meeting someone for a flight, verify whether you are expected at American Aviation or Brooksville Air Center. The location of American Aviation is on the East side of the Airport at 2495 Broad Street, Brooksville. Going South on Broad St./Route 41, it is on your right. Brooksville Air Center is on the West side of the Airport at 15421 Technology Drive. To find Brooksville Air Center, take Aerial Way South, off of Spring Hill Drive. Turn Left on Technology Drive to the end.
Q. What is an FBO?
A. FBO stands for Fixed Base Operator. It is a full‐service facility for pilots, their airplanes and passengers or guests. At Hernando County Airport, both FBOs feature elegant terminal lobby and counter areas where pilots can conduct fuel and service transactions while their passengers or guests wait comfortably. The FBO is also where pilots do their weather briefing and flight planning. Q.
Q. What is the price of fuel?
A. Like automobile fuel prices, aircraft fuel prices can change daily. Please check with airport FBO websites or phone them directly. Both FBOs sell Avgas and Jet A. American Aviation is an Avfuel dealer and Brooksville Air Center sells Phillips 66 and also offers a self‐service pump.
Q. Can I rent an airplane?
A. For inquiries concerning aircraft rental, crew hiring, or charter services, please contact the FBOs directly. They will be pleased to speak to you about their available flexible options.
Q. Do you have flight training?
A. Yes. Although there is not presently a commercial Flight School on the airport, there are flight training programs at Hernando County Airport. Please contact either American Aviation or Brooksville Air Center for program availability and rates.
Q. Do you have any airline service?
A. Hernando County Airport does not have any scheduled airline service due to its proximity to Tampa International Airport. Hernando County Airport is exclusively General Aviation. Inquire about Charter or on‐demand service by contacting one of the Fixed Base Operators on the airport. Contact American Aviation at 352‐796‐5173, www.americanaviation.com or, Brooksville Air Center 352‐754‐5449, www.brooksvilleaircenter.com.
Q. What if I have a complaint about aircraft noise?
A. You are welcome to contact Airport administration if you have a noise complaint however, because Hernando County does not have an air traffic control tower, there is little that can be done to enforce flight level compliance. The FAA Complaint Hotline is 866‐835‐5322. U.S. Coast Guard St. Petersburg Operations is 727‐535‐1437 and the U.S. Army Air National Guard phone number is 352‐797‐5813.
Q. Who Pays for Airport Improvements?
A. Unlike many general aviation airports, the Hernando County Airport does not require local tax support to fund operations; we use no local property taxes to operate. The revenues to operate the Airport are paid through industrial/commercial land leases, hangar rentals and aviation user fees. In fact, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which governs all public airports in the U.S., requires that all revenue earned be applied to repair, maintenance and improvements within the airport. Much of the work done at the airport is also eligible for state and federal grant funding.
